A job at last

Maria has been out of work for a few years although she had held previous jobs in the care sector. She had to visit the job centre regularly to see her DEA and do job searching regularly.

Marie wasn't having any luck finding a job. Her support worker contacted Sixteen to ask if they could help.

Marie worked with a job coach who completed a vocational profile. This told the coach where her strength, interests and aspirations lay. Then the job coach helped Marie to look for work.

Marie had a lot of interviews, but kept working with the job coach to improve her interview skills.

In July she had a really good interview with Bristol City Council and Marie was offered a care assistants job.

Now Marie works for 20 hours per work, caring for people with dementia.

She says that she is really glad she is off job seekers allowance and that she now has her ownmoney.

She is hoping to use it to go on holiday snowboarding in Austria.

She enjoys talking to the residents and doing activities with them.

Her family say that she is really happy and can't wait to tell them about her day at work
